Our work

The Week of Languages 2009.

In September 2009. anent the European Day of Languages, the Association organised The Week of Languages in cooperation with Centar Municipality on the topic Learning foreign languages.

The activities included a discussion on the obligations and rights of interpreters under the title „The job of an interpreter: from peeling an apple to a bilateral agreement“Dragica Iliktarević coordinated the discussion, and the result is  Bylaw on the rights and obligation of interpreters (in Bosnian) which defines the important things everyone doing this job needs to know.

Members of the Association, and all those interested in the topic, had a chance to attend an excellent lecture held by Professor Sabina Bakšić on the topic Power discourse in the light of politeness strategies about the different ways power is expressed through language.

The week in which we celebrated both the European Day of Languages and the International Day of Interpreters was used for the Assembly of the Association. We used that opportunity to sum up what has been achieved and to discuss the plans for the following year.

On the European Day of Languages, 26th September, we held a workshop for high school students who had sent their essays in foreign languages. The topics were: Words want to be free, Learn a new language, get a new soul, My language my awakening.
